Lina Matos-Delgado has brought empathy, strength, and warmth to Sousa Family Law since joining the firm as Secretary. Her journey into the workforce began after she immigrated to the U.S. from Portugal in 1978. From a young age, Lina worked hard in a clothing factory to help support her family and later pursued her GED and an associate degree while working multiple jobs. Her deep dedication to growth and service eventually led her to the legal field—fulfilling a long-standing dream of building a meaningful and impactful career.
With over three years of experience in the legal field, Lina’s role at the firm is shaped by a lifetime of client-facing work, including as a business owner, shelter supervisor, and customer service provider. Her ability to organize, listen deeply, and care authentically makes her an invaluable member of the team.
Lina is the first point of contact for many clients, and her calm, thoughtful presence helps set the tone for the supportive experience Sousa Family Law strives to provide. She takes pride in maintaining client confidentiality, offering a listening ear, and helping people feel seen during some of the most difficult moments in their lives.
Clients often notice Lina’s warmth and lighthearted spirit—qualities she brings to the office every day. She says, “Sometimes just being there and listening can help make someone’s day better. That’s when I know I’m doing something that matters.”
Lina’s work ethic reflects her upbringing: give 150% in everything you do. This passion extends beyond the firm. She has been active in her community for many years—working at homeless shelters in New Bedford, preparing meals, and supporting civic engagement efforts, including during the Obama campaign. She’s also a proud advocate for social justice through her involvement with the Coalition for Social Justice in New Bedford.
Before becoming an attorney herself, Kendall was a paralegal in a Family Law Firm. This gave her a daily hands on, face to face experience with clients. Often giving her the experience of handling the non legal, but extremely important issues that arise in family law cases. Ultimately she transitioned into a practicing family law attorney where she utilized her experiences as a paralegal.
Outside of work, Lina is full of life and creativity. She loves reading, taking scenic walks, visiting the beach, and diving into crafty hobbies like crocheting and stitching. Known around the office for her great sense of humor, Lina has a gift for bringing a smile to others—sometimes even to herself.
